Knoblauch has been responsible for the design, together with local designers and illustrators, for the first Motel One in Spain. Typical Spanish architecture is combined with locally manufactured designer furniture and the natural influences of the surrounding flora and fauna.
From the reception with its classic cement tiles to the comfy chairs by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola and the carpets by the local company Nanimarquina, the hotel is full of inspiration from the nature of the nearby park Citduadella. Pendant lights by Bocci are reminiscent of a bunch of flowers, the natural Spanish stone floor adds a rustic touch and a large outdoor area with lounge invites you to sit back and relax.
The rooms are also full of comfort and life: at the head of the box-spring beds are designs by the young illustrator Lara Costafreda that play with the themes of plants, nature and the jungle. While the hotel might invite you to kick back and unwind, there’s a lot to discover in the city itself as well: The nearby Ciutadella park, the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Cathedral, the lively La Rambla street and the Plaça de Catalunya in the city centre.
